We were pleased to offer our first training on using data to share your health equity stories on April 9, 2015 at Tukwila Community Center.
Presenters included Abbie Zahler (ICHS and HKCC GT), Devon Love (CMHC), Linh Thai (Rep. Adam Smith’s office), Marguerite Ro (PHSKC), and Nadine Chan (PHSKC.)
Highlights of what our community members learned….
- Data can misrepresent populations, depending on how it’s aggregated (example: jails)
- Look closer at how data is broken down (example: Latinos born outside the U.S. vs. those born within)
- Participating in the census is important for accurate data–and for resources and programs to go to the communities who need it

If you and your organization need data or have questions, send an email to Data.Request@kingcounty.gov.
